Miami-Dade Police were on the scene of an apparent murder-suicide early Monday morning.

Detectives said 69-year-old Jorge Estacio shot and killed his wife, Sonia, around 11:42 Sunday night at the couple’s home in the 9400 block of Southwest 155th Avenue.

The couple’s daughter and her boyfriend were also inside the home at the time of the shooting and Miami-Dade Police said the daughter found her parents’ bodies.

Authorities said the couple had lost two of its daughters in a violent car accident on I-75 about two years ago.

“Unfortunately, tragedy struck this family in the past,” Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said. “About two years ago, the other two daughters that the husband and wife, Sonia and Jorge had, they were involved in a car accident on I-75 about two years ago.”

A friend of Sonia Estacio, who arrived at the scene of the shooting early Monday morning, told NBC Miami that Estacio was pursuing a divorce from her husband.

“There’s nothing at this point that shows any history of domestic violence,” Zabaleta said.

Police are still investigating the incident.
